02 Dec Why It Is Important To RSVP!
A lot goes into planning an event, be it a get together with your friends, a birthday party, a kiddies party, a baby shower or a wedding. The last thing you need as a host is someone showing up on the last minute without RSVP’ing or a person who RSVP’s but doesn’t show up!
HONESTLY BETWEEN THESE TWO PEOPLE, I DON’T KNOW WHICH ONE I LOATH THE MOST 🙂
RSVP stands for Respondez S’il Vous Plait, a French phrase that translates to “Please Respond”. So, you are either confirming attendance or declining the invitation which makes planning easier for the host as they know exactly how many people will be attending and budget and caters accordingly. It is unfair to the host to RSVP “YES” and then don’t pitch, you have been catered for and the host has already paid for you (in most cases) now that’s money down the drain. Even a text message on the day of the event to let the host know that you will no longer be attending the event is better than just not pitching at all. Again the reason for canceling on the last minute must be sound, otherwise, it becomes another added stress to the host… Which is not ideal.
Whilst no one is obligated to attend anyone’s event, it is good manners to let the host know that you will be attending or not.
If you know you won’t make it to an event, please avoid NON RESPONSE- rather decline the invitation than ignoring it and hoping that your silence means NO, it doesn’t.
Happy RSVP’ing!!!!
